East Lothian Current 🌊 Thursday 13th March
Pizza pop-ups, the 'Shaping our Shores' film premiere and creative networking...
And we’re back! Regular readers will notice we’ve had a couple of weeks off - a very lovely surprise birthday trip, a busy time at work and the (sort of) arrival of Spring 🌷 all conspired to make it hard to find time to research and write this newsletter.
(For new readers - The Current is 100% voluntary, and I write and research it alongside my full time job. Weekly issues are the aim of the game, but sometimes life gets in the way.)
You’ll be pleased to know I haven’t been completely idle though - I’ve been out and about in East Lothian dropping postcards off at local businesses and community noticeboards. Maybe you subscribed because you’ve spotted one in the wild?
If you have a free spot that would suit a little blue postcard and would like me to drop some off in the next couple of weeks, please just let me know!
☀️ This Week
🍕Can’t be bothered cooking tonight? The Big Blu pizza van is at Gullane Village Hall, and you can pre-order here.
🌊 Shaping Our Shores: A Coastal Cleanup Movement is holding an exclusive premier at The Fraser Centre on Saturday night. As well as the film screening, there will be drinks and a Q+A with the documentary team. Watch the trailer below and get your tickets here.
🕺🏼East Linton Community Choir are celebrating the Sounds of the 70s at three concerts in the Village Hall over the weekend.
🛍️ Not East Lothian but also not too far away - head to The Market at Dalkeith Country Park this Saturday for a lazy weekend browse.
🪩 Britpop, indie, dance, cocktails and a crisp bar - Back to the 90s at Aberlady Village Hall has everything your Saturday night needs (strictly 18+).
🖼️ If you want to support Aberlady Primary School in a more sedate manner, you can also get a sneak peek at Gosford House on Saturday, 11:30-2pm.
🎤 And if the 90s just aren’t your thing, Australian singer/songwriter Brendan Etherington will be playing Station Yard in Dunbar on the same night. (Watch him play here)
⭐️ If you’re been wondering about the collection of obstacles popping up around Whitekirk Hill, now’s your chance to find out more - Wild Cairns Open Day on Sunday 16th.
🥫I’m personally v interested in this one: Creative Soup, a networking and social event for creatives at Steampunk. This looks like the first event of its kind - could someone in the know please get in touch and confirm if soup is actually involved?
