Welcome to issue 3 of The Current! This week is all about getting outdoors and enjoying some of that gorgeous sunshine we’ve been blessed with over the past couple of days. Does anyone else feel like we just skipped right over Spring and into Summer?
What’s on
🌼 To Do: Longer, warmer days are finally making exercising outdoors feel like a tempting prospect again. I’m psyching myself up to try one of these Beach Fitness Classes…
🍕 To Eat/Drink: I was gutted to miss Street Eats Kitchin in Haddington last week. The new food truck wants to “bring global flavours to East Lothian”. Their first menu was Korean fusion - keep an eye on their instagram for future pop-ups!
🍿 To Watch: Haddington Corn Exchange is screening National Theatre Live’s ‘Nye’, Michael Sheen’s slightly surreal biopic about the man who transformed Britain’s welfare state. Watch the trailer if you’re still undecided, then get your tickets here.
🧘🏻♀️To Chill: Banish the Sunday Scaries with this heavenly-sounding Yoga, Sauna and Swim session on the 19th, hosted by The Yoga Den at Foxlake Adventures. I’ve been to a few Yoga Den classes before, and they are super welcoming to newbies and beginners (and people like me, who can’t even touch their toes).
💪🏼 To Take a Stand: Join the Surfers Against Sewage Paddle Out Protest at Portobello Beach this Saturday. OK, so it’s not *quite* East Lothian, but certainly an issue that anyone who appreciates our beautiful coastline should care about. Strictly land-based? You can find family-friendly beach cleans in North Berwick every month.
Talk of the Town
🌌 It seems all anyone can talk about this week is spotting the Northern Lights across Scotland over the weekend. If you missed it, here are some fantastic photos from readers of the East Lothian Courier.
